Congress makes laws that affect all of us. Learn about Congress’s role in our democracy and its responsibilities, including the budget process. Article I of the Constitution establishes Congress as a branch of the United States government, and provides it with the authority to “convene and adjourn.” The collections in this collection contain congressional meeting schedules and legislative schedules. Meeting schedules include House and Senate session dates and committee meeting times. Legislative schedules list legislation at various stages of the statutory process, as well as other legislative business that is eligible for floor action. The Calendars collection also includes the official House of Representatives legislative agenda and the Senate’s Calendar of Business.
